Banfanggou town
Banfanggou Town, subordinate to Urumqi county, Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the middle of Urumqi county, facing Shuixigou town across the river in the East, Hejing County of Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in the south, sardaban Township and Huofeng Township in the west, and Tianshan District in the north. The total area of the town is 530 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, 13525 people registered residence.
The name of Banfanggou town comes from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, because woodcutters built wooden houses in the mountains. In 1950, Banfanggou belonged to the Sixth District of Dihua county (Hedong District). In 1958, Banfanggou, Shuixi and Tuoli merged to form the Hongqi people's commune. In 1966, it was renamed Xiangyang commune. In 1994, Banfanggou Township People's government was established. In 2017, the township was set up. As of October 2019, Banfanggou town has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 8 administrative villages.

In 1950, Banfanggou belonged to the Sixth District of Dihua county (Hedong District).
In 1956, when the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, Banfanggou township was set up.
In 1958, Banfanggou, Shuixi and Tuoli merged to form the Hongqi people's commune.
In 1960, Banfanggou was built.
In 1966, it was renamed Xiangyang commune.
In 1979, Xiangyang commune was restored.
In 1994, Banfanggou Township People's government was established.
