Baiyang town is located in the southeast corner of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, on the east side of Liupan mountain range, between 106.32 '- 106.58'e and 35.4' - 36.17'n. it is located in the Loess Hilly Area in the east of Northwest Loess Plateau, with an altitude of 1248-2461m. It is a temperate semi-arid climate zone and a typical continental monsoon climate type.

The proven industrial reserves of raw coal are 720 million tons, and there are a lot of refractory clay around the storage area. The geological reserve time of limestone is 2.36 million tons, the geological reserve of quartz sandstone is 230000 cubic meters, and the daily water inflow of sodium bicarbonate magnesium (calcium) strontium type natural mineral water is 2790 cubic meters. There are more than 100 kinds of wild animals, among which sika deer and leopard in guamagou forest area are national protected animals. There are more than 500 kinds of wild plants, including more than 200 kinds of medicinal plants, 26 kinds of suitable crops, and winter wheat, flax, buckwheat and naked oats have advantages. Pengyang is known as the hometown of fruits, rich in apricot, apple, pear, walnut, pepper and other fresh and dry fruits.
Historical evolution
Pengyang County is named after Pengyang city. In the Qin Dynasty, Chaona County belonged to Beidi county. Han Dynasty belongs to anding county. In 518, the first year of Shengui in the Northern Wei Dynasty, Chaona county was abolished, and Huangshi county (now in Goukou township) was established in yangjinchuan (now in Honghe River) as the great wall county. In the fifth year of Zhengguang (524), baichi county (now in Chengyang township) was set up in ruhechuan. In the second year of Daye (60), Changcheng county was changed into Baiquan County, belonging to Pingliang county. In 618, Pingliang county was changed into Yuanzhou. In 625, Baiquan County moved from yangjinchuan to ruhechuan (now in Baiyang town). In 1033, Pengyang city (equivalent to the County military establishment) was set up in the present county, belonging to Zhenrong army. This is the beginning of Pengyang's name. Jin Dading 22 years (1182) home Dongshan County (Modern and ancient urban and rural areas), is the town of Rongzhou. In 1273, Dongshan County was changed to Guang'an County. Five years later, Guang'an County was upgraded to Guang'an Prefecture, belonging to Kaicheng Prefecture. In 1369, guanganzhou was abolished and incorporated into Kaicheng County, belonging to Pingliang Prefecture, the Chief Secretary of Shaanxi Province.
