Longwu town
Longwu Town, subordinate to Tongren City, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is located on the Bank of Longwu River in the middle of Tongren City, bordering Jiawu Township in the East, qukuhu Township in the south, Nianduhu Township in the West and Baoan town in the north. It is the seat of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Tongren municipal government. In 2018, the area was 104.71 square kilometers, and the registered residence was 9415.
In September 1949, Tongren County People's government was established. In 1951, it was divided into one district and Longwu street was established in the same year. In 1961, the communes of Chengzhen, Longwu and Wutun were restored. In 1967, Wutun commune was incorporated into Longwu commune. In 1984, Longwu and urban commune merged into Longwu town. In August 2006, Yalang township was merged into Longwu town. As of October 2019, Longwu town has 7 communities and 11 administrative villages.
In 2018, Longwu town has three comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
Rajzannawa, the ancestor of the Longwu family in Tongren City, was originally a native of womatang at the foot of nyainqentangla mountain in Tibet, belonging to the Longwu branch of the Sakya Chu family. In the middle of the 13th century, he was sent to Tongren area by basiba to promote Buddhism. According to the Longwu Temple annals written by Jiu maiteng, rajzannawa led more than 300 people here, one account for every 30 people. His descendants gradually controlled the local government and became local officials of Longwu. The Longwu temple was founded by Sandan Renqin, the son of many generations of LongQin, whose name is closely related to the Longwu branch of Sakya Chu family. Longwu in Tongren area got its name from Yuan Dynasty. With the expansion of Longwu temple, the political and religious system of Longwu temple was formed, and the number of monks increased day by day. Due to the people's demand for daily necessities, some merchants came to Longwu to operate. They either sold in season, or did business on the ground, and began to build shops and settlements. At the end of the 19th century, xiaxiacang, the living Buddha of Longwu temple, allowed merchants from Gansu and Xunhua to do business in Longwu area, and designated the area, built the earth city to live together, forming Longwu block, which was later called Longwu town.
In September 1949, Tongren County People's government was established.

In 1956, it established DEDENG Township and Wutun township.
In 1958, it changed DEDENG Township into Longwu commune, Wutun Township into Wutun commune and Longwu Street Town commune.
In 1959, the three communes were merged into Qianjin commune.
In 1961, the communes of Chengzhen, Longwu and Wutun were restored.
In 1967, Wutun commune was incorporated into Longwu commune.
In 1984, Longwu and urban commune merged into Longwu town.
In August 2006, Yalang township was merged into Longwu town.

By the end of 2011, Longwu town had jurisdiction over Regong Road, Longwu street, siheji, Qingnian Road, Hedong Road, Wutun Shangzhuang, wutunxiazhuang, jiacangma, Jiamao, xiangchaoyang, longwuzhuang, cuoyu, Yalang, Yili, nianglo and aning.
As of October 2019, Longwu town has 7 communities and 11 administrative villages.

Longwu temple in Longwu town is a national key cultural relic protection unit. It was founded in 1301. It is the birthplace of Tibetan Buddhism "Regong Art". It has a history of 699 years. It is one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist temples in Qinghai, one of the six major temples in Anduo Tibetan area, and the largest Gelug temple in southern Qinghai.
