Nanhai Township

Nanhai Township, an outlying island group, is located in the southernmost Fishing Island Township of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, Fujian Province, 16 kilometers away from the county seat.

It is mainly composed of 28 islands, including Caoyu Island, Tangyu island and Dongjia Island, with jurisdiction over 7 administrative villages.

There are yangleiding, Baijiao Bay, golden beach, shitoucuo and other scenic spots, among which Haitan Tianshen scenic spot is one of the eight national Haitan scenic spots.

In 2017, the administrative area was 1090 hectares, with 6798 permanent residents.

Historical evolution

Aodong branch of Pingtan commune was established in 1958, Nanhai commune was established in 1961, and township was changed in 1984. In 1997, it had jurisdiction over seven village committees, namely chencuo, lianao, Ximen, Jiangwei, Houkeng, Beilou and nanzhong.

In the first year of the Republic of China, it belonged to Tangyu district and Caoyu district. In the 20th year of the Republic of China, it belonged to tangcao Township under the jurisdiction of five districts. In the 26th year of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of the two districts. After the liberation in September of the Republic of China, Pingtan belonged to Nanhai Township under the jurisdiction of the second district. In 1961, Nanhai people's commune was established. In September 1984, Nanhai Township People's government was established.

Fishery development

There are many islands and reefs near Tangyu. It is the natural sea area where Porphyra grows. It produces "Tangyu Porphyra", which is delicious and famous at home and abroad. Because of rich aquatic resources, it is known as "jindongxiang and yintangyu". After the 1980s, with the laying of submarine power supply cables and communication cables, the land island transportation became more convenient, and the small trade with Taiwan became active. "Haitan Tianshen" in the south of nanlouao is a national scenic spot, attracting many tourists every year.

Nanhai township is dominated by fishery, which produces fixed net in the inner sea. In 1995, the township raised 250 Mu kelp, 30 mu laver, and more than 1300 fish cages.
