Zhongtai Town, under the jurisdiction of Lingtai County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is named after Taishan, also known as Zhongtai mountain (also known as Jingshan, the location of the old town of Lingtai county). Zhongtai town is located in daxihe District of Lingtai County, connecting Xinkai Township and ShaoZhai town in the East, Puwo Township and Tiantang town of Linyou County in Shaanxi Province in the south, Baili Township in the west, Xitun Township and Dudian town in the north, with an administrative area of 108.32 square kilometers.
Before 1949, it was Zhongtai town. After 1949, Zhongtai district was set up. In 1958, China Taiwan commune was established. In 1984, it was changed into Zhongtai town. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Zhongtai town was 12903. As of June 2020, Zhongtai town has jurisdiction over 12 administrative villages, and the town people's government is located in the West Street of the county.
At the end of 2011, the per capita net income of farmers was 4004 yuan. By the end of 2018, there were 34 industrial enterprises in Zhongtai Town, including 5 Industrial Enterprises above Designated Size and 20 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
