MATI Tibetan Township
MATI Tibetan Township, subordinate to Sunan Yugur Autonomous County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, is located in the southeast of Sunan Yugur Autonomous County, the middle of Hexi Corridor, the north foot of the middle section of Qilian Mountain, east to YONGGU town and Nanfeng township of Minle County, South to Qilian County of Qinghai Province, West to Kangle Township across Heihe River, and north to some towns of Minle county and Ganzhou district. It covers an area of 1998 square kilometers. In 2018, 4392 people registered residence in the horseshoe Tibetan township.

Historical evolution
In 1954, on the basis of the 14 Tibetan tribes of the East five, the West eight and the baitoumujia (Banda), the MATI Tibetan Autonomous Region (section level) in Minle county was established, which governs three townships of Qilian, Xiehe and huangzang, and is located in MATI temple.
In 1957, MATI district was put under the jurisdiction of Sunan Yugur Autonomous County by Minle county. At the same time, it transferred 7 Han villages of Xinsheng brigade in Shunhua township of Minle county and 5 Han villages of nangu brigade in Minle county.
In 2004, Sunan County abolished MATI District Office, merged daquangou Township, daduma Township and Xishui Tibetan Township under the jurisdiction of MATI District Office, and established MATI Tibetan township.
