Hongshagang Town, subordinate to Minqin County, Wuwei City, Gansu Province, is located in the west of Minqin County. It is adjacent to Alxa Right Banner of Alxa League in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north, Xuebai Town, Qinfeng farm, datan Town, hongshaliang Town, Xiqu town and Donghu town in the East, Jinchuan District of Jinchang City in the west, Chongxing Town, Caiqi town and Yongchang County in the south, and 75 kilometers away from Minqin County. The area is 5831.3 square kilometers. In 2011, the population of Hongshagang town was 1022, with 7 villager groups under its jurisdiction. By June 2020, Hongshagang town has jurisdiction over one community, three villages and another village level unit.
Hongshagang is a pastoral area in Minqin County, where cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens are the main animal husbandry. Hongshagang industrial cluster in Gansu Province is a circular economy demonstration park, a municipal industrial cluster, and a county energy and chemical production base.
Historical evolution
In the Han, northern and Western Wei dynasties, Yiwei county was the territory.
From the Northern Zhou Dynasty to the Sui Dynasty, it belonged to guzang county.
In Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Mingwei mansion.
In Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Yongchang Road.
In Ming Dynasty, it belonged to zhenfanwei.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Zhenfan County, where a man surnamed Wang opened up wasteland and planted opium poppy. It was famous for its colorful fireworks.
In May 1962, two animal husbandry brigades, huaeryuan and xihongliujing, were established.
In January 1965, it was merged into huaeryuan animal husbandry brigade, which is a commune level unit directly under the county.
In April 1983, huaeryuan town was established, with jurisdiction over jiugoujing village and six villager groups including Hongwei, Xiangyang, Hongshagang, huaeryuan, qingtaiquan and zhoujiajing.
In September 2005, huaeryuan town was removed and Hongshagang town was established.
