Mangshi town
Mangshi town is called "Menghuan" (meaning "land of dawn") in Dai language. With a total population of 46223 (2017) and a total area of 337.79 square kilometers, it is the window to the west of Yunnan, the political, economic and cultural center of Dehong (now Menghuan Street), the window for cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar, and the gateway for economic benefits between China and Myanmar. As a result, Mangshi is prosperous in business and has a large number of merchants. It is a transportation hub leading to Ruili, Longchuan, Yingjiang, Lianghe and Myanmar, as well as a distribution center of commercial materials.

Mangshi town is located in the east of Dehong Prefecture and the north of Mangshi, Yunnan Province.
With convenient transportation, special political and geographical location and obvious geographical advantages, it has a total area of 337.79 square kilometers, connecting Xiangda Township and Longshan Town in Longling County of Baoshan City in the East and North, Fengping town and Xuangang Township in the West and south.

The 320 national highway runs through the north and south, and there are rural roads from Mangshi to xiangguntang and from Mangshi to Huixian, with developed transportation network. Mangshi river passes through the west, Banguo River and nanxiu River pass through the city. There are many rivers in Mangshi, and water resources are rich. The highest altitude is 2377m (the main peak of Beiyin mountain), and the lowest altitude is 807m (Guangmu Village).
Historical evolution
In the eighth year of Zhengtong of Ming Dynasty (1443), Mangshi Yuyi chief secretary was set up, and then Mangshi pacification department was promoted.
In 1954, Mangshi town was established. In 1969, it was changed into Dongfanghong commune. In 1984, Mangshi town was reestablished.
In 1997, it covers an area of 4.8 square kilometers and has a population of 38000. Ethnic minorities account for 31.12% of the total population. It has jurisdiction over Tuanjie Road, dongbeili, xinxinanli and Xincun.
The former suburban town of Luxi was named Chengguan District of Mangshi in 1956. Xianzhong commune was established in 1969, renamed Chengguan commune in 1971, suburban town in 1984 and suburban town in 1988. In 1997, it covers an area of 239 square kilometers. With a population of 29000, it governs seven administrative villages, namely Dawan, nahuai, songshuzhai, manghei, Huixian, Zhongdong and Xiadong. In 1998, the township was set up.
The former xiangguntang Township in Luxi was founded in 1973, changed to district in 1984 and township in 1988. In 1997, with an area of 108 square kilometers and a population of 6000, it has jurisdiction over three administrative villages, namely xiangguntang, Yunmao and Hexinchang.
In 2005, Chengjiao town and xiangguntang Township were abolished and merged into Mangshi town. By the end of 2005, the town had an area of 413.6 square kilometers, a planned area of 25 square kilometers, and a built-up urban area of 12.7 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over Mangshi, Chengjiao and xiangguntang, 8 communities, 10 administrative villages (4 dam areas and 6 mountainous areas), 491 resident groups and 171 villager groups, with a total population of 105000, including 48243 agricultural population.
In 2006, it covers an area of 388.3 square kilometers and has a population of 100900. It governs 8 communities and 10 administrative villages, including XINANLI, dongbeili, Tuanjie, Xincun, Jinhua, sankeshu, Bingwu and Manghuo.
In 2007, Menghuan street was set up in Mangshi Town, which has jurisdiction over XINANLI, dongbeili, Tuanjie, Xincun, Jinhua, sankeshu, Bingwu, Manghuo, etc.
Organization setup
In 2007, Mangshi town set up four administrative offices: Party and government comprehensive office, economic development office, social affairs office and urban management office, and three business centers: Rural Economic Service Center, propaganda and cultural service center, and Village Environmental Sanitation Service Center. The new agriculture office and the letters and visits office were added to the party and government general office. The xiangguntang work station, community service center and their subordinate offices have been abolished. There are 24 work stations and 136 in-service cadres and workers, including 49 civil servants, 49 public service cadres, 14 office workers and 24 public service workers (all excluding the two temporary leaders of the designated departments).

Four village committees in the dam area are Dawan, lahuai, Manghe and songshuzhai; six village committees in mountainous areas are Huixian, Zhongdong, Xiadong, Yunmao, Hexinchang and xiangguntang; 128 natural villages and 187 villager groups; eight community neighborhood committees (dongbeili, xinxinxinli, Tuanjie, Xincun, Jinhua, Jianguo, Bingwu and sankeshu, now all belong to Menghuan Street), with 447 resident groups . At the end of the year, there were 50594 mu of cultivated land, including 28288 mu of paddy field, 22306 mu of dry land, and 1.238 mu of cultivated land per farmer.

Dehong Mangshi Airport
Dehong Mangshi airport is located in Mangshi, the capital of Dehong Prefecture, 6.5km away from the urban area and 876m above sea level. The navigable cities are: Kunming, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai (Hongqiao), Guangzhou, Xi'an and Chongqing.
Dehong Mangshi airport covers an area of 2640 mu. The runway is 2200 meters long and the grade is 4C. The apron can accommodate 9 Boeing 737-300 aircraft at the same time. Since the opening of the airport, the construction has been intensified. The airport has been equipped with blind landing system, omni-directional beacon range finder, navigation light, advanced communication, navigation, meteorology, maintenance, security inspection, transportation and other equipment, and night flight has been opened. In October 2013, Mangshi airport will be upgraded to an international airport.
