In January 2017, the township was replaced by township. As of June 2020, Dangchuan town has 10 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.

In 1940, Dangchuan township was established.
In 1943, Sancha district (located in Wubi) was set up, with jurisdiction over Sancha Town, Liqiao town and Dangchuan township.
In August 1949, Dangchuan township was still established.

In September 1958, it merged with Huamiao and Guanyin to form Huamiao commune.
