In June 2011, the township was withdrawn and merged into the town. The former Zaoyang Township and the former Qianjin Township were merged into one, and the title of "Zaoyang" was used to get the name of "Zaoyang town".
The history of the former Zaoyang township: it was formed by the merging of the former Zaoyang Township and DINGHE Township in October 1996.
1. Zaoyang: in 1683, the 22nd year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Zaoyang was under the jurisdiction of shentanpu. During the period of the Republic of China, Lianbao was changed to Township, which was the first one in Shentan township. After liberation in 1949, the people's political power was established. In 1954, the district office was set up. The former Ankang county had 16 districts. The administration of Zaoyang township was subordinate to the former 12th district of Ankang County, namely Guanmiao district office. In April 1955, the Township People's government changed its name to the Township People's Committee. In 1956, Ankang county was merged into 12 districts and 120 townships. Zaoyang township was subordinate to Guanmiao District, the 12th district. In 1958, Zaoyang commune was originally under the jurisdiction of Huaishu and Zaoyang, and was merged into Zaoyang people's commune in 1961. In September 1968, it was changed into the Zaoyang Revolutionary Committee. In 1981, the "Revolutionary Committee" was abolished and the commune management committee was elected. In October 1983, the government and commune were separated and the Township People's government was established, known as Zaoyang township. In October 1996, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged with the former DINGHE township to form Zaoyang township.
2. DINGHE: during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, the Dingjiahe area was inhabited by people surnamed Ding, so it was customary to call it "Dingjiahe". In the period of the Republic of China, DINGHE was under the jurisdiction of Shentan joint protection in the Eastern District of Ankang county at that time, and then under the second protection of Shentan Township after expansion. After liberation, the people's political power was established. DINGHE Township belonged to Guanmiao District, the 12th district, and the original second Bao was changed into Jiqing township. In 1958, when the commune was transformed, it was renamed as the administrative district, and DINGHE commune was formally established in 1961. During the "Cultural Revolution" in 1966, due to the emphasis on the revolutionization of geographical names, "DINGHE" was renamed "dawning", and soon it was restored to its original name "DINGHE", which is still in use today. In 1981, the "Revolutionary Committee" was abolished and the commune management committee was elected. In October 1983, the Township People's government was established, known as DINGHE township. In October 1996, the district was withdrawn and merged with the original Zaoyang township to form Zaoyang Township, which is located in aijiahe.
History of former Qianjin township: it was formed by the merging of former Qianjin Township and Baohe Township in October 1996.

Before liberation, the national government implemented the Baojia system, and set up Shentan Township Office (shuanglongguan) at huangnigoukou, which was under the jurisdiction of the former Qianjin Township, Baohe Township, Gongjin Township, DINGHE Township, Zaoyang Township, Shiti Township and Zaoshu township. The township office had eight guarantees, and the former Qianjin township was the sixth. In 1950, the sixth Bao was changed to Guandian Township, and the people's Government of Guandian township was set up; after the district office was set up in April 1954, the administration was subordinate to the former Guanmiao District Office of the 12th district of Ankang County; in April 1955, the Township People's government was changed to the Township People's Committee; in 1958, after the implementation of the people's commune, the township was changed to the administrative district, and the Guandian people's commune was formally established in 1961; after the start of the "Cultural Revolution" in 1966 In 1981, it was changed to the Management Committee of Qianjin township; in 1983, the people's Government of Qianjin township was restored. In October 1996, after the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, the name of "Qianjin township" was still used.
2. Baohe: before liberation, Baohe township was the seventh and eighth guarantors of Shentan Township, East District of Ankang County; after liberation, the seventh and eighth guarantors were incorporated into the people's Government of Baohe township. After the establishment of the District Office in April 1954, the administration was subordinate to the former Guanmiao District Office of the twelfth District of Ankang County; in April 1955, the Township People's government was renamed the Township People's Committee; in 1958, the Baohe Township People's government was renamed the Township People's Committee It was called Baohe commune; after the start of the "Cultural Revolution" in 1966, Baohe commune was renamed the Democratic Revolutionary Committee; because the name "democracy" was called too much in other places, in order to avoid repetition, the Democratic Revolutionary Committee was again called Baohe Township People's commune before the "Cultural Revolution"; in 1981, it was changed to Baohe Management Committee; in 1983, it was restored to Baohe Township People's government; in October 1996, it was changed to Baohe Township People's commune The former Qianjin township was merged with the former Qianjin township.
