Yuangong town belongs to Chenggu County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. It is located in the middle of Chenggu County, adjacent to Machang town of Yang County in the East, Longtou town in the south, and Juyuan town in the West and North. The total area is 101.30 square kilometers.

Historical evolution
This place was originally named Li's village. In 1476, in memory of Yuanjie, the Minister of the Ministry of war, who resettled Jingxiang refugees, it was changed from "Li's village" to "Yuangong village". The town is named after the village.
Qing Dynasty belongs to the East, middle and West commons of North Road 30 dam.
In the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), it was a public dam in the East, West and Central Plains of the northern 30 dam.
In the 28th year of the Republic of China (1939), it belonged to Yuangong town and had jurisdiction over 13 fortresses.
In 1950, it was named Xinyuan Township, Xiyuan Township and Baoshan Township.
In 1958, it was established as a management area.

In 1966, it was renamed Chiwei commune.
In 1972, it was renamed the original commune.
In 1983, it was changed to Yuangong township.

In 1996, Yuanshan township was merged into Yuangong Town, with 17 administrative villages under its jurisdiction: dongyuangong, Xinyuan, Qixin, Zhengjiapo, tianshizi, Yuangong, xiyuangong, Xiba, miaojishan, Qinglong temple, Lvjiahe, Xinzhuang, Yuanshan, Lijiashan, Nangou, Sanguan and changjiagou.
In 2011, Baoshan town was abolished and merged into the original public town.
