Mazhao town

Mazhao Town, belonging to Zhouzhi County, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the northern foot of Qinling Mountains, heishuiyukou. It faces Louguan town on the East, Chenhe town on the south, Xinkou River on the west, Guangji town on the north, xinjiazhai town and Erqu Street on the north, with a total area of 77.95 square kilometers.

Mazhao town has a long history and profound cultural heritage. Bai Juyi once served as magistrate of Zhouzhi County. Here he wrote a poem that "the black pool water is as dark as ink, and it is said that the dragon people don't know". His masterpiece song of everlasting regret was written in Xianyou temple on the Bank of Heishui river. Xianyou temple was built on the basis of Ancient Jade Maiden cave in Sui Dynasty, and became the emperor's palace in Tang Dynasty. There is a 35 meter high Fawang tower in the temple, which is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Mazhao town is one of the four industrial bases of Kiwifruit in Zhouzhi County.

The origin of place names

Ma Rong, a famous Confucianist of the Eastern Han Dynasty, was called here by Emperor Han'an. He worshipped Shulang and was honored by the local people.

In Tang and Song Dynasties, it was called Xianyou town.

In Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was mazhaoli and jinxianli.

During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, mazhao town was set up.

After the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it became a joint protector of mazhao Institute, mazhao District, mazhao Township and mazhao.

In 1949, it was established as mazhao township.

Mazhao town is located in the largest heishuiyukou at the northern foot of Qinling Mountain in Zhouzhi County, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. It faces Louguan town on the East, Chenhe town on the south, Xinkou River on the west, Guangji town on the north, and xinjiazhai town and Erqu Street on the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 4.28 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 19 km, with a total area of 77.95 square kilometers. It is 10 kilometers away from the county government.
