It is said that this place was once the location of Huangliang warehouse in the Sui Dynasty. Its original name was Huangliang village, which was changed to huangliangli in the Ming Dynasty, and Huangliang town was set up after the Qing Dynasty.

In the Han and Tang Dynasties, it was under the jurisdiction of Hualin township.
