Weiqu Street
Weiqu street, belonging to Chang'an District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the south of Xi'an City, the north of Chang'an District, and the northwest end of Shaolingyuan. It is adjacent to Dazhao street in the East, Duqu street in the south, Wangqu street in the southwest, Guodu street in the West and changyanbao street in Yanta District in the north, with a total area of 51.18 square kilometers.
The historical sites in Weiqu Street include the world cultural heritage Xingjiao Temple Pagoda, Huayan Temple, Tomb of empress Wei of Tang Dynasty, tapo Jianning pagoda, Niutou Temple of Tang Dynasty, fachuang temple and dugong Temple (Dufu Temple) built in Song Dynasty. The memorial site is Yang Hucheng general cemetery.
As of June 2020, Weiqu street has 73 villages (residences), including 50 communities and 23 administrative villages. In 2011, Weiqu street had a total population of 210000, with a total agricultural output value of 290 million yuan, a total industrial output value of 2.94 billion yuan, and a total social commodity sales value of 3.7 billion yuan.

The origin of place names
From the Western Han Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty, the Wei aristocrats lived in the caoshui (today's Zaohe) in the West Village of Weiqu. In the Tang Dynasty, the Wei family held a grand meeting to drink in the water. They gathered together for fun, so it was named Weiqu.
History of construction
In the Ming Dynasty, it was weiquli, Nanxiang, Xianning county.
Weiqu town was established in Qing Dynasty.
After 1912, Weiqu District, town, township and Lianbao were set up.
Since May 20, 1949, Weiqu district and Weiqu township have been established successively.
In 1954, it was directly under the Chang'an County Government, with jurisdiction over 9 townships.
In 1958, Weiqu commune was established.
In 1961, two communes, SHENDIAN commune and duling commune, were established.
In 1966, it was renamed red flag Enmin commune.
In 1968, it was renamed Revolutionary Committee of red flag commune.
In 1972, it was renamed Weiqu commune.
In 1981, it was renamed Weiqu commune management committee.
In 1984, it was changed into a town with 16 production brigades under its jurisdiction.
In 2002, the former SHENDIAN Township and duling Township were merged into Weiqu Town, with jurisdiction over 46 administrative villages, 188 villager groups and 8 communities.
