History and culture
Open a long way
Kaiyuanmen was built in the early Sui Dynasty. It was called kaiyuanmen in the Sui Dynasty and changed to anyuanmen in the Tang Dynasty. The name "Kaiyuan" may indicate that the Sui and Tang Dynasties needed to expand their territory to the West. There are three roads under the Kaiyuan gate. In 654, a city building was built above the gate. According to the dictionary of Chang'an in Tang Dynasty, kaiyuanmen is located in datumen village in the western suburb of Xi'an. Datumen village is located in the south of the junction of Daqing Road and West 2nd Ring Road, and kaiyuanmen site is located in the center of the village.
Kaiyuan gate faces east, opposite to Anfu gate, Yanxi gate and Tonghua gate of Guocheng in turn, and is in a straight line with the cross street in front of Gongcheng. The east-west street in kaiyuanmen is called anfumen street, which connects kaiyuanmen and anfumen. According to the Japanese scholar zulixiliu's measurement and literature review
