Jiefangmen Street

Jiefangmen street, belonging to the new urban area of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the west of the central part of the District, across the northeast corner of Xi'an city wall, forming two parts inside and outside the city, with a total area of 1.22 square kilometers.

It is named after the Jiefang gate of Xi'an city wall. In 1955, it was the fourth district inside the city and the eighth district outside the city. In January 1955, eight districts and eleven districts were merged into Weiyang District, and jiefangmen Station Street was established in September. In June 1957, it was transferred to the new urban area and renamed jiefangmen street.

As of June 2020, jiefangmen street has jurisdiction over 7 communities. In 2011, jiefangmen street had a total population of 31800, with a total fiscal revenue of 89.2 million yuan and a per capita fiscal revenue of 2890 yuan.

Name and origin

It is named after the Jiefang gate of Xi'an city wall.

History of construction

In 1955, it was the fourth district inside the city and the eighth district outside the city.

In January 1955, eight districts and eleven districts were merged into Weiyang District, and jiefangmen Station Street was established in September.

In June 1957, it was transferred to the new urban area and renamed jiefangmen street.

In December 1958, the area to the north of Longhai railway was classified as Ziqiang road street, and Dongwu road and Dongqi road streets were abolished and classified as jiefangmen street.

In January 1959, Dongwu road street was rebuilt, and the east section of Shangde Road, which belongs to Xiba road street, was divided into jiefangmen street.

In March 1960, it was renamed jiefangmen commune. In May, it was assigned to Weiyang District and became jiefangmen branch of Xincheng commune in Weiyang District.

In June 1962, it returned to Xincheng District and was renamed jiefangmen commune.

In 1978, jiefangmen street was restored.

In September 2002, Dongwu road street was abolished and its jurisdiction was divided into Zhongshanmen street and jiefangmen Street respectively; Xiwu road street was abolished and its jurisdiction was divided into Xiyi road street and jiefangmen Street respectively.

It starts from Shuncheng East Road in the northeast, East and west five roads in the south, North Street in the west, and Longhai Railway in the north. It is 1.5km away from the people's Government of Xincheng District. The maximum distance from east to west is 2.3 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 0.85 km, with a total area of 1.22 square kilometers.
