Yala town is located in the west of suoxian County, near the county seat, and the main road of Heichang highway. It is the largest town in suoxian county. Suoxian county is located in 3 villages of the town. The town government is less than 1 km away from the county.

Suo County governs the town, the seat of the county government and the county people's Congress. It is located at the westernmost end of the county, adjacent to Baqing county and Jue county. The permanent resident population is 9785 (the sixth census in 2010). It has jurisdiction over 2 neighborhood committees and 15 administrative villages. The township was established in 1965 and the commune was changed in 1971. In 1988, the former Yala township was changed into Yala Town, and the former Ya'an Township and Yaxiong Township were merged into Ya'an township. In 1996, Yala Town, with a population of about 12000, governed four administrative villages, namely, gumuxiong, zhedanxie1, zhedanxie2, and lunnai (one said Yala 1, Yala 2, Yala 3, and Yala 4); Ya'an Township, with a population of about 25000, governed eight administrative villages, namely, Kama, yikongyi, yikongyi, Jiangqing, qiangxiong, sexiong, Ya'an, and kangmang, and the township government was stationed in Shengli (one said Jiangqing, youna, and Kama) Yongna Township, with a population of about 15 thousand, governs eight administrative villages, including qiangxiong, yongnarong, zhaser, sare, xiongqingda, baga, Axiong and chaopu, and the township government is stationed in Tanaka (i.e., eight villages, including qiangxiong, zhaser, serekang, xiangqingda, bage, chaowenkang, naku and guobakang). In 2000, there were 2608 permanent residents in Yala town (Wupu), 2926 permanent residents in Ya'an township (Wupu), and 1810 permanent residents in Yongna township (Wupu). In 2002, Ya'an Township and Yongna Township were abolished and merged into Yala town. In 2006, it has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages, namely, Guoxiong, saqing, Jianglong, luonai, zase, qiangxiong, yongnaku, seretang, xiangqingda, bagedo, guobatang, chaofutang, Kama, yekou, Jiangqing, qiangbodo, qiezhu, yaandeng and youna. Geography
Yala Town, Suo County, Nagqu Prefecture, Tibet
before the merger of towns in 2002, Yala town had only four villages under its jurisdiction. In 2002, the former Ya'an Township and the former Yongna Township were merged into the town, and the town became the largest township in the county. The town is now under the jurisdiction of 19 villages. By the end of 2007, there were 1610 households and 7550 people. The total area of cultivated land is 543.5 hectares. The total number of livestock on hand is 47650. there are four temples in the area under the jurisdiction of the town, namely: zandan temple, ribang temple, Gaga temple and gawaren'a temple. At the same time, there are six Lacans, namely Yaan Lacan, chezhulacan, Kamala, yeprakang, kangmanglacan and yongnarlacan. In addition, it also has many cultural landscapes or natural scenic spots, such as the ruins of King Gesar, Quzong, hot springs and so on
