Gongga County of Shannan City governs the town. Jiazhulin town is the residence of Lhasa Gongga International Airport, which is directly connected with Lhasa airport expressway. Jiazhulin town is the first destination for many domestic and foreign tourists to Tibet. Jiazhulin town is one of the four famous towns in Tibet. It is located in the valley of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River in the north of the county, 7 kilometers away from Jixiong Town, Gongga County, and 97 kilometers away from Lhasa. Established in 1984 and renamed jiazhulin town in 1996, it is an important cultural and historical town in Tibet.

It has jurisdiction over 6 Village (neighborhood) committees and 31 villager groups. Jiazhulin neighborhood committee of town government. there are 7559 permanent residents (2017), mainly Tibetan, with a small number of Han and other nationalities. the economy is dominated by agriculture, with animal husbandry and sidelines. There are 14 enterprises in the town, such as transportation, building materials processing and hotels, and 19 units, such as military and civil aviation port, post office, business office and clinic. there are 2 central schools and 14 teaching sites. 101 provincial road runs through the center of the town, with highways connecting Lhasa, Shannan, Xigaze, etc. There are three temples. In 2004, it was identified as a well-off demonstration town in the whole region.
