Gandeng Township
Motuo County, Linzhi City, Tibet Autonomous Region governs the township and two village committees, Gandeng village and Duoka village. The township government is located in Gandeng village. The total population is 322 (2017).
Gandeng township is located in the northernmost part of Motuo County, 135 kilometers away from the county seat. It is adjacent to zhesah Township in the South and Pailong Township in Milin County in the north. It is located in the deepest and widest Grand Canyon in the world - Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, with complete vertical natural belts in mountains. It is the nearest township to the great bend of the Yarlung Zangbo River.
Water resources, tourism and other resources are rich.
The economy is dominated by agriculture and animal husbandry, planting corn, rice, chicken feet, etc.
In 2015, a simple earth road from Hesa township to Gandeng township was built.
As of January 2017, Gandeng township is one of the last two townships in China where roads are not accessible. The existing traffic conditions are carried by horse roads, and it is still in the state of horse hunchback. Due to the inconvenient transportation in this area, the local social and economic development is seriously restricted.
In 2020, Gandeng township highway will be opened to traffic, which is the last Township in China to pass the highway.
