Zongsha township was established in 1960, changed into a commune in 1974, and resumed in 1984. Located in the southeast of the county, 75 kilometers away from the county.

Chaya County governs the township. It covers an area of 932 square kilometers and has a population of 4000. It has 21 village committees including Zhongguo, Weizuo, danzuo, kongne, Longang, zongba, Abu, Juegan, dongkong, gayu, Chari, Qugu, qamuyi, qamuer, qamusan, qamusi, qamuwu, qamuliu, qamuqi, xinbatong and gongsa. It is a semi agricultural and semi pastoral Township, planting highland barley, wheat and rape, and Grazing Yak, cattle, goats and sheep. The tourist attractions are saga RI Chu.
