Bonan town
Bonan Town, founded in December 2005, is a combination of old street and Qudong town. Located in the Midwest of Yongping County, it is the seat of the county and the political, economic and cultural center of the county. The area is adjacent to Beidou Yi Township and Longjie town in the East, Changjie Yi Township in the south, Shanyang town in the west, Baoshan City and Yunlong County across the Lancang River, and Longmen Township in the north. The total land area of the town is 466 square kilometers.

It was a town in the Republic of China. In 1950, it was called a district. In 1958, it was changed into Yinjiang commune. In 1970, it was divided into Laojie commune and Yinjiang commune (renamed Qudong commune in 1982). In 1984, it was changed into Laojie town and Qudong Hui Township. In 1996, Qudong township was withdrawn to establish a town. In 1997, Laojie Town, with an area of 188.2 square kilometers and a population of 25000, governed five administrative villages including Laojie, sutun, Shengquan, Zhuopan and Shalu; Qudong Town, with an area of 221.5 square kilometers and a population of 19000, governed eight administrative villages including Qudong, qitun, Taoxin, Xintian, Huaqiao, Pojiao, qingyangchang and chuyipu. In 2005, Laojie town and Qudong town were abolished and Bonan town was established. Lihai Chongshang village, Xiacun community 1 and Xiacun community 2 of Dongzhuang village committee of Shanyang town and Chalu village committee of Changjie Yi Township were put under the jurisdiction of Bonan town. The town government was stationed in sutun, the former Laojie town. By the end of 2005, Bonan town had a total area of 466.3 square kilometers and a total population of 51425, including 39501 agricultural population; 38595 Han people, 9549 Hui people, 1446 Bai people and 1413 Yi people; it had jurisdiction over one community, 13 administrative villages, 261 Village (neighborhood) groups and 284 natural villages; and the town government was stationed in Laojie community.
