Mengsong Township

Menghai County governs the township. In 1913, it belonged to the first district administrative bureau (Cheli), and in 1927, it was set up in nanben township. Originally chelidi, in 1913 it was under the jurisdiction of the first district administrative branch (chelidi) of the General Administration of Pushi border region. After setting up the county in 1927, nanben township was set up in 1930, which was subordinate to Cheli county. After liberation in 1950, the District People's government was established, which was called Wuben district and subordinate to Cheli county. In 1953, Banna Menghai was established, which was transferred from Cheli to Menghai. In March 1958, Mengsong district was established. It was renamed Dongfanghong commune in 1969. It was renamed Mengsong commune in 1973, Mengsong District in 1984 and Mengsong Township in 1987.
