Babu township is located in the middle of Malipo County, bordering Yangwan Township in the East, xiajinchang Township in the south, Pingzhai Township in Xichou County in the West and guanba County in Vietnam in the north. Historical evolution
Babu township is located in the middle of the county, bordering Mudan (today's Anming) and guanba counties in the East and Southeast, xiajinchang Township in the west, Liuhe Township in the north, and Yangwan in the East. Before Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to niuyang Tusi. In Yongzheng period, in order to prevent the invasion of Vietnam, the Qing government stationed troops in Zhexiang (now zhele), sasao (now Yinshan), qulan, longtuan (now opposite the copper factory), qumang, Dagan, kuibu, etc., under the jurisdiction of donganli, Kaihua Prefecture. During the Xianfeng Period of the Qing Dynasty, there was only one passage to Vietnam in Babu, where there were eight Dai (Paiyi) families, and there was no street. Because Babu is very narrow, that is, it can cross the river in eight steps, so it is called Babu River, and later it was renamed Babu river. The first year of tongzhi (1862) when red and white banners broke out, the eight Dai families were forced to move to Vietnam, and Babu became a desolation. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, Han businessmen, surnamed ban, Huang and Wang, came here to do business and settle down, and gradually began to rush into the streets. Guangxu 24 years (1896) in Panzhihua flood and the original donganli Nanyou half a, butterfly half a into the Fifth District, jurisdiction Qingyun, Lingnan, Yangwan and other three townships. In 1930, the League Insurance Bureau was abolished, and the local administrative affairs were subordinate to the flood control bureau. In November 1948, Panzhihua was liberated and the flood control department was changed to the Preparatory Office of the District People's democratic government. The district was moved to longlong. In May 1950, it was changed into the Second District of Malipo City, with jurisdiction over longlong, Tongchang, zhuanbao and other three townships. In the autumn of 1954, the District People's government moved to Babu street and changed Panzhihua District into Babu District, which has jurisdiction over 14 townships, including nadeng, Huangtian, Nanqing, HuoDa Di, Yunling, Heping, Jiangdong, Yangwan, Changtian, Nadu, Dongding, Liuhe, pianhu and yunpanshan. In October 1958, Babu District was divided into three communes, namely Babu, Liuhe and Yangwan communes, which were subordinate to Xichou County. The original small township was changed into a management area. Babu commune has jurisdiction over nadeng, Huangtian, Nanqing, huodadi, Yunling, Heping and Jiangdong. In 1960, Babu, Liuhe and Yangwan communes were merged into Babu District. The former Big Commune was changed into zhongcommune. Dongding and Yingpanshan were assigned to Tiechang district. Tingman, yangpizhai and Dongyou in Xichou County were assigned to Babu District. In 1965, Jinchang district was established, and Yunling and HuoDa district were designated to Jinchang district. In 1970, the district was changed into a commune and the small commune into a brigade. Three communes, Babu, Yangwan and Liuhe, were restored. Babu commune has eight brigades, including Nanqing, Huangtian, Heping, nadeng, Jiangdong, yangpizhai, longlong and Dongyou. In October 1983, the commune was removed and the former brigade was replaced by the township. In March 1988, the district was removed to build a township, and the original small township was changed into a village office. The total area of the township is 186 square kilometers, with 25488 mu of arable land. The township government is located 480 meters above sea level, 60 kilometers away from the county seat.
