Wumao Township
Wumao township is located in the northwest of Yuanmou County, with a total area of 248.45 square kilometers. It has five villagers' committees, namely Wumao, Luoxing, Huxi, Aoxiang and Zhima, with a total of 53 villagers' groups. There are 12 ethnic groups, including Han, Yi, Hui and Lisu, with a permanent population of 16486 (2017). It is 29 kilometers from Yuanmou County in the South and 31 kilometers from Yongren County in the north. With convenient transportation, national highway 108 and Yongwu Expressway run through the whole Township from north to south, which is the window and North Gate of Yuanmou County's opening to the outside world.
Historical evolution
At the beginning of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty, there were seven horses in Yuanmou County, and now there are many horses in Wumao village. In the 45th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1706), five horses were set up and puwenma was set up. At the beginning of Qianlong period, Ma was changed into Xiang and Qu Changshan was changed into Xiang. In 1930, autonomy was carried out. The township was changed into a district and a township was set up. The township is the seventh, eighth, ninth and fourteenth Township in the Sixth District. In 1934, the seventh township was changed to Nahua Township, the eighth to Wumao Township, the ninth to Duowen Township, and the tenth to Tangjiao township (Tangguo). The villages of aoqiao in hewai belong to Yongren County, and the villages of Zhima belong to Wuding county. In 1938, Wumao township was set up in the abandoned area and 12 townships were set up in the county. In January 1944, 12 townships were merged into one Township, Wumao township was merged into tulin Township, and tulin township was called tulin township. On January 19, 1950, Yuanmou was liberated and the people's political power was established. In November 1951, the organization was adjusted to change Shi'an District into the first district, and Wumao township was still set up. In 1953, the county was transformed into two districts and one town, and the township scale was adjusted to be the first district, with Wumao Township, duoke Township and Huxi Township respectively. In 1955, Wumao and Huxi townships were established. In 1957, local adjustments were made to the scale of counties and townships. The county was changed from 30 townships to 32 townships, with Wumao, Huxi and Zhima townships in the region. In 1958, the whole county was adjusted to 17 townships and Wumao township was set up. In 1959, Xianfeng people's commune was changed into Julin people's commune, under which there was a management area. In 1961, Yimo Shidu (Yunfeng) and Maoyu village were divided into Zhima administrative area by Jiangbian people's commune. In 1962, the scale of the commune was adjusted, and the people's commune of Julin was changed into Julin forest area, the management area was changed into small commune, and the small commune was changed into brigade. In March 1969, jurin was changed into the people's Commune and the small commune into the brigade. There are four brigades in the area, namely Zhima, aoqiao, Wumao and duoke. On July 3, 1972, the four brigades of Zhima, aoqiao, Wumao and duoke were set up by Julin commune. In 1973, in order to strengthen the construction of mountainous areas, Lianhuang, dalaizai, Guoxing and Dingjiu villages were divided from Zhima group and Yuanyong group was established. At the end of 1973, sesame commune had a total of six brigades under its jurisdiction. in 1981, with the approval of Yunnan Provincial People's government, sesame commune was renamed Wumao commune because its place name was Wumao. In April 1984, the rural system reform was carried out, with the establishment of districts and townships, the transformation of communes into districts and the transformation of brigades into townships. in April 1988, the district was removed to build a big Township, and the small township was changed into an administrative village. Wumao village has five administrative villages: Wumao, Zhima, aoqiao, Luoxing and Huxi. In 1995, Wumao Township governed Wumao, Zhima, aoqiao, Luoxing and Huxi five administrative villages, 51 natural villages (villagers' committees) and 61 cooperatives. From the winter of 1998 to the spring of 1999, 4 farmers in Nazhi village, 1 farmer in aguzu village and 1 farmer in Baiguo village moved to the foot of Lianhua Mountain, Luoxing village committee of Wumao township. in July 2000, the administrative village was changed to villagers' autonomous Committee, the village office was changed to villagers' committee, and the original villagers' committee was changed to villagers' group. In March 2004, 79 people from 19 households in yidula of Jiangyi Township moved to jinshaping of Luoxing village committee. It is called jinshaping new village. In 2017, Wumao Township had five village committees, including Wumao, Luoxing, Huxi, Zhima and aoqiao, and 53 villager groups.

The permanent population of the township is 16486 (2017), and there are 11 ethnic groups including Han, Yi, Miao and Hui living in the township. The minority population is mainly distributed in the five village committees at the junction of mountain and dam.
