Mengding town is under the jurisdiction of Gengma Dai and Wa Autonomous County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province. It is located in the southwest of Yunnan Province. It is a sub County town in Yunnan Province, 80 km away from the county. It is connected with HEPAI Township and Gengma town of Gengma Dai and Wa Autonomous County in the East, mangka town of Cangyuan County in the south, gunnong township of Myanmar in the West and Muchang township of zhenkang County in the north, with a total land area of 1069.15 square kilometers and a permanent resident population of 100050 People (2017).

In March 2006, Furong Lahu Susu Township and hewai Township were abolished, and their administrative areas were merged into Mengding town. from 2005 to 2011, the development and Construction Management Committee of Mengding District in Lincang City was established. On December 20, 2011, the construction of Gengma (Mengding) border economic cooperation zone was officially launched.
