Dedang town is subordinate to Yongde County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province. It is located in the west of Yongde, the western border of Yunnan Province. It is 99 ° 15 ′ E and 24 ° 02 ′ n, bordering Dashan Township in the East, Muchang township of zhenkang County in the south, Mengban Township in the West and Yongkang Township in the north. It is the political, cultural and commercial center of the whole county. Dedang town is under the jurisdiction of Yongde County, where the county government is located.

History and culture
De Dang is a Dai place name. De means lower, Party means Road, and de party means below road. The town of dedang got its name from its residence. In 1909, it was the county seat; in 1910-1912, it was the residence of Yongkang Prefecture; in 1913, it was the residence of zhenkang county and set up the general regiment; after 1932, it set up the first district of zhenkang County; in 1940, it set up the dedang town; after liberation in 1950, it belonged to the dedang township of the Middle District of zhenkang county (later called the first district); in 1959, it belonged to the dedang commune. In 1964, it was the residence of Yongde County, and set up Chengguan Town, which was specially in charge of urban residents and street teams; in 1977, it set up three teams (suburb of the county) from the German Communist commune to establish the German Communist town. In the spring of 1984, there were three rural offices and one neighborhood committee under the jurisdiction of 28 villages. In 2004, the former Mengshui wa township was merged with the former dedang town. In 2006, Minglang Township and dedang town merged. The Wa people live in dedang town. They have a certain wa culture. The festival activities in a year mainly focus on four major festivals: sand piling, door closing, door opening and wave land. Every month there are four sections of fasting, namely, the 8th, the 15th, the 23rd and the 30th of the first day of the lunar new year, which means worshiping the Buddha for good luck.
