Menglang town
"Menglang" is a Dai place name, "Meng" means place, Bazi, "Lang" means wash, "menglang" means clean and beautiful place as washed. Menglang Town, located in the middle of the county, is the resident town of the county government. Its geographical coordinates are 22 degrees 31 minutes-22 degrees 41 minutes 08 seconds north latitude and 99 degrees 51 minutes 50 seconds-99 degrees 59 minutes 06 seconds east longitude. It is surrounded by donglang Township in the East, South and West, Zhutang Township in the northwest and Nanling Township across the river in the north. The territory is 6.3 km wide from east to west and 20.6 km long from north to south, with a total land area of 710 square kilometers (2017).
Historical evolution
The Ming Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of company commander Meng. Mengbin chieftain territory in Qing Dynasty. Before the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it belonged to the first district of Lancang. In the same year, the abandoned district was under the jurisdiction of donglang township. Menglang town (township level town) was established in August 1962. In 1984, menglang township of donglang district was merged with it and upgraded to district level town. In this process, a student in menglang town of Lancang County was washed away by the river, and 66 people from 22 households in Nuozhadu town were affected. The rainstorm damaged roads, bridges, culverts, communication optical cables, ditches, etc., resulting in a direct economic loss of 7.7753 million yuan.
