Judian town is located in the west of Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, in the northwest of Yulong County, on the Bank of Jinsha River. Judian is called "gudui" in Naxi language. According to some historical records, "Gu" is nine, and "Dui" is a place, meaning nine regions, so it is named. In the Tang Dynasty, Judian was called "Jiufu", and in the early Yuan Dynasty, it was renamed "Jujin", which means ferry. It was renamed "Judian" in the early Qing Dynasty and is still in use today. According to Zhengde's Yunnan annals, Volume 10, Lijiang Prefecture, Japan: "huama mountain is 150 miles southeast of Jujin. This is where the famous huama kingdom is." Judian town belonged to Jujin Prefecture in Yuan and Ming Dynasties, and Judian tower town was set up in Qing Dynasty. In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, it was changed into judianli. Judian town was set up in 1930, the Fifth District, the ninth district in 1931 and the Fifth District in 1932. From 1933 to 1939, Xinjie town and Laojie town were established, belonging to the Fifth District. In 1940, Judian township was set up.
In July 1949, after the liberation of Lijiang, it belonged to the Judian branch of the political commissar. In September, it belonged to Judian district. From 1950 to 1953, it was the Fifth District, with jurisdiction over seven administrative villages. From 1954 to 1957, the administrative village was changed into a township, with six townships, including Judian, gudu and Wuhou, still belonging to the Fifth District.
