Houchao Township
Houchao Township, belonging to Nanming District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, is located in the south of Nanming District, bordering Yunyan, Huaxi and Xiaohe districts, and adjacent to the streets of Shachong, zhongcao, huaguoyuan, taiciqiao and Zunyi Road, with a total area of 18.51 square kilometers. As of 2018, the registered residence population of Hou Chao township was 21659. By 2019, houchao township has one community and four administrative villages.
In 2011, the total agricultural output value of houchao township was 1.97 million yuan; the total industrial output value of Industrial Enterprises above designated size was 19727.3 million yuan; and the total financial income was 152.8 million yuan.
Evolution of organizational system
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to Cai Guanli, a place under the jurisdiction of Guiyang government, and to Ju Guli, Guizhu county.
During the period of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of Guizhu county.
On November 15, 1949, Guiyang was the Sixth District of Guiyang city after liberation.
In May 1956, it belongs to Chaoyang senior agricultural production cooperative.
In February 1958, it belongs to Nanming District of Guiyang city.
In July 1958, it belonged to Chaoyang state farm.
At the end of August 1958, it belonged to Qianjin commune.
In October 1958, Qianjin commune and Hongqi commune merged into Chaoyang commune of Nanming District, belonging to Chaoyang commune.
In May 1963, Chaoyang Agricultural Office of Chaoyang commune was established.
In November 1964, Chaoyang agricultural office restored Chaoyang commune, belonging to Chaoyang commune.
In March 1983, Chaoyang commune was withdrawn and four townships including Erge, youmian, Chaoyang and taici were built.
In August 1983, langyunguan, sifanghe and houchao were built.
In May 1987, sifanghe township was merged into houchao township.

Houchao township is located in the east slope of Yunnan Guizhou Plateau and the south of Guiyang basin. The terrain is high in the West and low in the middle, with an average altitude of 1150 meters and a relative elevation difference of 120 meters. The terrain is dominated by basins, followed by mountains and hills. Among them, 62% are basins, 24% are mountains and 14% are hills. The shangzhongxiaba and lancaoba of sifanghe village belong to high-lying areas; Chaochong, yutianba and houchao of Chaoyang Village belong to low-lying areas; Wulichong of taici village and huoshipo of Chaoyang Village belong to hilly areas.
