Laozhaizi township is under the jurisdiction of Jinyang County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Laozhaizi township was established in 1956, laozhaizi commune was changed in 1971, and laozhaizi township was restored in 1984.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish laozhaizi Township and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of Dexi town. The people's Government of Dexi town is located at No. 1, degu street, degu village.

Laozhaizi township is located in the northeast of the county, 35 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 40.9 square kilometers and has a population of 4000. It has jurisdiction over Bujiu, seselo, Zeguo, Xidi, hunli and gake village committees.

The main agricultural products in laozhaizi township are corn and potato. Animal husbandry is mainly pig and sheep.
