Xiamaidi Township
Xiamaidi township is under the jurisdiction of Muli Tibetan Autonomous County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Xiamaidi township is located in the southeast edge of Muli County, between 107 ° 7 ′~ 105 ° 15 ′ E and 27 ° 40 ′~ 27 ° 50 ′ n, adjacent to Yazu Township in the East, Housuo Township and Biji Township in Yanyuan County in the west, mianya Township in Yanyuan County in the South and liewa Township in the north.
On June 12, 2020, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish xiamaidi township.
General situation
It governs 3 administrative villages and 24 villager groups, inhabiting 6 ethnic groups, including Yi, Han, Tibetan, Miao, Mongolian and Zhuang, with a total of 3814 people (2017). The total area is 115.94 square kilometers. The township government is located in shangmaidi group of shangmaidi village, 30 kilometers away from the county seat. It is known as the "South Gate" of Muli, and is the only way for Muli to enter and leave the country. The majestic auspicious welcome tower stands at mianyakou at the junction of salt and wood. It is another good place for Muli to welcome and see off distinguished guests, and it is also a place for people to rest. The 110kV transmission line extends out of the boundary to Yanyuan and Xichang. Xiamaidi township has high mountains and deep valleys, the highest altitude is 4204 meters, the lowest altitude is 2003 meters, and the relative elevation difference is 2201 meters. The average altitude of the township is about 2800 meters, the average annual temperature is 14.4 ℃, the average annual precipitation is 647.1 mm, and the frost free period is 258 days.
Historical evolution
It used to belong to Lewa Township, built Maidi commune in 1972, and set up Maidi Township in 1983. on June 12, 2020, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish xiamaidi township.
economic development
Xiamaidi township enterprises have wood processing, building materials and other factories. Agriculture mainly produces potato, corn and buckwheat. Animal husbandry is mainly composed of pigs, sheep and yaks. xiamaidi township is dominated by agricultural production, with a cultivated land area of 5459.6 mu. In 2006, due to the severe drought, the grain output of the township was only 410 tons, 121 kg per capita. Xiamaidi township is rich in natural grassland, covering an area of 6327 hectares. At the end of 2006, there were 13234 livestock in stock, 2915 more than in 1990, 3614 livestock in stock, and the total meat output reached 158.8 tons. The forest area of xiamaidi township is 3890 hectares, and there has been no forest fire for 22 years by 2006. A total of 4000.7 mu of farmland has been converted to forest, 1200 mu of barren hills have been forested, and the output of walnut, prickly ash and fruit is 6400 kg, 3000 kg and 31400 kg respectively. Xiamaidi township is one of the eight poverty-stricken townships in Muli County. In 1995, xiamaidi township was listed as one of the top 100 poverty alleviation townships in the prefecture. According to statistics, 239 poverty alleviation card households with 1114 people were built in 1993, accounting for 70% of the total number of households and 50% of the total population. Through the "poverty alleviation project", by 2006, the farmers in the township had basically got out of poverty.

In 2006, there was one central school, five village primary schools, 28 teachers and 264 students. The enrollment rate was 98.8%, the enrollment rate of junior high school was 95.7%, and the literacy rate of young adults was 97.5%. There are 1 health center, 4 doctors, 4 beds, 2 village medical stations and 2 village doctors. In the township, the family planning rate is 90%, the birth control rate is 83%, and the natural population growth rate is 10 ‰.
