Wache town
Wache town is located in the northwest of Hongyuan County, with an area of 990.28 square kilometers and a population of 7325 (2017).
Historical evolution
In 1959, Wache township was established in maiwasangli tribe; in March 1960, Wache township was established; in 1973, Wache Township People's commune was established, with five brigades under its jurisdiction; in 1984, it was changed into township system, with brigades under its jurisdiction gradually changed into villages; according to the No. 9 document of Sichuan civil affairs, Wache township was officially abolished and Wache town was established. Wache town governs five administrative villages and one community, which are Rigan village, Dexiang village, seyong village, tangri village, da'e village and qudengtang community.
With the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Hongyuan County abolished Wache Township and established Wache town. The town people's government is located in Dexiang village and governs the administrative region of Wache township. Wache town is an established town under the jurisdiction of Hongyuan county. It is the intersection of wahe highway and national highway 209 outside the town. It has extremely convenient transportation advantages. It is the largest town in Hongyuan county. The town has five administrative villages, with a total grassland area of 1.46 million mu, which is the nearest prairie to Chengdu.
Regional location
Wache town is located in the northwest of Hongyuan County, 42 kilometers away from the county seat, 490 kilometers away from the central city of the province, and 38 kilometers away from the first bay of the Yellow River in Jiuqu. It is an important transportation hub in Northwest Sichuan and one of the important nodes of the dajiuzhai Tourism circle. It has obvious location advantages and strong radiation. The landform of the town is mainly hilly plateau. The average altitude of the town is more than 3500 meters, covering an area of 990.28 square kilometers. There are 1.548 million mu of natural grassland and 1.466 million mu of usable area. There are 145 kinds of high-quality forage and 299 kinds of livestock feeding plants. There are rich resources of Chinese herbal medicine, such as Fritillaria, Cordyceps, dried pine, Gentiana straminea, etc.
Wache town governs five administrative villages and one community, which are Rigan village, Dexiang village, seyong village, tangri village, da'e village and qudengtang community. There are unique tourism resources such as riganqiao everglade, wachetalin, Anduo Tibetan pastoral village, etc. with the rise of "mujiale" and "zangjiale", it can be said that Wache town has become an important tourism development town in Hongyuan county. The town's economy mainly relies on the development of modern animal husbandry, red history and culture, Tibetan traditional folk custom tourism, new professional cooperatives and residential commercial development

By 2016, there were 1847 households with 7325 people in Wache Town, and more than 99% of them were Tibetans. In 2017, the total population was 7325 (2017).
