It was established in 1958 and governed by man Township, changed to commune in 1969, restored to township in 1981 and governed by man town in 2017. It is located in the west of the county, facing Gansu Province across the Yellow River in the west, 50 kilometers away from Ruoergai County. It covers an area of 771.73 square kilometers and has a population of 7900 (2017). It has jurisdiction over six village committees: Tawa, gaqiong, Wenge, Xicang, HeLa and Kajia. Mainly animal husbandry, yak, sheep and so on. in 2017, according to the requirements of the official reply, the jurisdiction of Manxiang was abolished and Manzhen was established, with the administrative region unchanged. Haman town is located in the core area of Zoige wetland, which is also the most serious desertification area in Zoige county. According to the fifth desertification land monitoring in Ruoergai County in 2014, there are 22795.59 hectares of sandy land in 7 villages of Manan township (now Manan town).
