Located in the northwest of Jiuzhaigou County, the township government is located in Qili Village, 34km away from the county seat. It is the first township that the county seat enters heihegou. Lingjiang is the alias of "Linjiang", which is named because the township government is located near the Heihe River.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Aba Prefecture decided to abolish Lingjiang township.

It borders Boyu Township, Wenxian County, Gansu Province in the northeast, nananjia village, Baihe Township in the South and Ziyu village, Heihe Township in the north. It covers an area of 350.3 square kilometers and has an altitude of 1826m. It has jurisdiction over 6 administrative villages, 9 villager groups, 460 households and 1880 people. All villages have access to water, roads, radio and television. There are township health centers, grain stations, broadcasting stations, supply and marketing cooperatives, one central primary school and two village primary schools. Tourist attractions include baicaoba, heibi waterfall, Lama stone, Daxia stone, etc. In 2014, the total rural economic income of the township was 16.15 million yuan, the net income per capita was 8507 yuan, the cultivated land area was 3391 mu, the grain planting area was 2965 mu, and the grain output was 674 tons. Grain crops include corn, wheat, Hu Dou and potato; economic crops are mainly rape, but also vegetables and sugar beets; economic trees include sweet cherry, apple, plum, peach, grape, walnut, Chinese prickly ash, Eucommia ulmoides and seabuckthorn. Qili Village has 800 mu of pollution-free sweet cherry base. In 2013, Qili Village sweet cherry planting cooperative of Lingjiang township was established. Qisheba walnut is famous for its large size, thin shell, heavy oil and bright color; edible fungus has 1 ton of Auricularia auricula; wild medicinal materials are mainly notopterygium, asarum, Mianqi, rhubarb and Polyporus umbellatus, with 507 mu of domestic medicinal materials. in 2009, Lingjiang Township made full use of the local resource advantages, taking sweet cherry, Zanthoxylum bungeanum and walnut as the main local products, actively cultivated characteristic industries, made great efforts to develop characteristic economy, and did a lot of work to build Lingjiang Township into the advantageous walnut production base of the whole county.
