Baotai town belongs to Yanjiang District, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province. Located in the east of Ziyang City, it is separated from the urban area by only one river (Tuojiang River). It borders Baohe Town, Zhonghe Town, Nanjin town and Qingshui Township, and faces Yanjiang town and Songtao town across the river. The maximum distance from east to west is 13.2 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 9.4 km, with a total area of 56.2 square kilometers.
As of June 2020, Baotai town has one community and 15 administrative villages. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of Bao Tai town was 41266. In 2011, the total agricultural output value of Baotai town was 27139 million yuan, and the industrial added value was 32432 million yuan.
Historical evolution
It got its name from Baotai temple where the town government was stationed.
Dongxiang was set up in the Republic of China.
In 1955, Wenming township was merged into Chengdong Township, a suburb.
In October 1958, the Township Reform commune was established.
In 1962, it was divided into Chengdong commune and Wenming commune.
In 1980, it was renamed Baotai commune.
In 1984, the commune was transformed into a township.
In April 1987, Wenming township was merged into Baotai township.
In 1992, it merged with Dahong Township and became Baotai town.

By the end of 2011, Baotai town had 14 administrative villages, including Dahong, Fuliang, Dongjiao, Shiniu, Tiansheng, Banshan, Leiyin, tuoqiao, Baisha, Feihong, Xiezhou, Huangni, Zhongshan and Gongcheng, and one community of Baotai temple.
On December 13, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the adjustment of administrative divisions of some towns in Ziyang City (cfgm [2019] No. 19): Qingshui town was abolished and its administrative area was put under the jurisdiction of Baotai town. After the adjustment, Baotai town governs the administrative areas of Dahong village, Fuliang village, Shiniu village, Dongjiao Village and Qingshui town.
