Huitan Township

Huitan township is located at the junction of Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces and Nanjiang, Nanzheng and Tongjiang counties in the northeast of Nanjiang county. It is adjacent to Beiba Town, Nanzheng County, Shaanxi Province in the East, nuoshui town and Tiechang Township, Tongjiang County in the south, Hongyan and Guimin Township in the west, and Shaba Township in the north. The township governs 5 administrative villages and 29 communities with a total population of 2953 (2017). Huitan township is rich in natural resources. It is a big resource Township in Nanjiang County, with magnetite, copper, phosphate, lead-zinc, mica, jade and other mineral resources. In particular, magnetite resources are widely distributed, with large reserves and high grade, mainly distributed in Sanyuan village and Daya village. The theoretical reserves of iron ore are 5 million tons and the recoverable amount is 4.5 million tons. Huitan Daye tea is the mother garden base of Nanjiang Daye tea. At present, it is applying to the Ministry of agriculture for the protection of the origin of Nanjiang Daye tea. Walnut, chestnut, Chinese herbal medicine and konjac are the backbone projects to increase farmers' income. Huitan township is rich in tourism resources, including Golden gorge stone forest and Canyon scenery, liujiahe cave, Tianshengqiao and other natural scenic spots. Huangjinxia stone forest is the only stone forest group with wide distribution, special shape, good vegetation protection and great development value in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu Tourism "Golden Triangle". It is one of the two major scenic spots of Shenmen provincial scenic spot, adjacent to nuoshui River scenic spot, and is the virgin land of Tourism development. Huitan township is rich in forest resources. The existing forest area is 58000 mu (5535 mu of virgin forest in China), and the forest coverage rate is 66%,. The stone forest, scenery, Tianshengqiao, Shuiliandong and other scenic spots of huangjinxia gorge are distributed together, which need to be developed. Historical evolution

Huitan is one kilometer away from the residence where two streams meet. There is a small beach. In the Qing Dynasty, a temple was built here, named Huitan temple. In September 1954, it was transferred from Tongjiang County to Nanjiang county. Huitan people's commune was established in August 1958 on the scale of township. Huitan township was renamed in March 1984. In 2005, the organizational system of Huitan Township remained unchanged. The township party committee and government set up six organizations, namely, the township party committee, the Township People's government, the presidium of the Township People's Congress, the liaison group of the township CPPCC, the township Discipline Inspection Commission, and the Township People's Armed Forces Department. In December 2019, Bazhong Municipal People's government decided to abolish Guimin Township, Huitan Township and Liuwan Township and establish Guimin town.
