Township Culture
Jiusicheng town is the place where Bo people died out. It is named after jiusicheng mountain. According to historical records, Bo people lived here more than 400 years ago. Jianwu city was the political, economic and cultural center at that time, which was called Yelang city. Jiusicheng mountain was the military base of Bo people. The leaders of the Bo people were a Dawang, a Erwang and a Sanmei. They were called "the three heroes of the a family". The Bo people were a powerful ethnic minority in Southwest China at that time. Because they didn't obey the rule of the court, they were eliminated on Jiusi mountain in the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1573). Since then, the Bo people have disappeared. Only the ancient tombs hanging coffins on Qianren cliff left an unsolved mystery. Although the Bo people have died out, their national culture is still handed down. Today's Jiusi culture has a unique national connotation. In the long-term historical evolution, it integrates the cultural characteristics of Bo, Miao and Han people, and has many distinctive folk customs. There are four large markets in Jiusi Town, namely Desheng, Jianwu, Boxia and Wenyin. It has a permanent population of 1800 and an area of 3 square kilometers. Desheng, the seat of the town government, is the political, economic and cultural center of the town. Desheng street is close to mountains and rivers. Yinba mountain and Jiusi mountain are located from north to south. Jiusi river runs from east to west. Houses are built along the river. The population is concentrated and the business is prosperous. After the end of the nine silk war in the second year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, it was renamed Jianwu city. It is the location of Xingwen ancient county. It has a strong national cultural heritage and typical characteristics of ancient architecture. Boxia, located 4 km north of Desheng, was destroyed in 2000 due to dangerous rock landslide
