Fandian Township

Fandian Township -- the hometown of traditional Chinese medicine. It is a typical mountain township in Shawan District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. It covers an area of 49.31 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 10 village committees, 60 villager groups and 1 community. The total population is 3926 (2017). It is adjacent to Shawan Town of Gongzui in the East, Wudu town of Ebian County across the river in the south, Longmen township of Emeishan City in the west, and Emeishan City and Shawan Town in the north. In 2006, it has passed the acceptance of provincial Chinese herbal medicine base. It is a famous hometown of Chinese herbal medicine.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish Fandian Township and put the former administrative region of Fandian Township under the jurisdiction of Shawan Town.

The cultivated area is 4780.62 mu. The geographical coordinates are between 103 ° 25 ′ 13 ″ e to 103 ° 30 ′ 15 ″ and 29 ° 17 ′ 25 ″ n to 29 ° 23 ′ 20 ″. It is surrounded by three counties (cities and districts), with an average altitude of 1094 meters. The highest point is Zhuzi mountain in group 3 of Mufeng village, with an altitude of 1740 meters. The Township People's government is about 530 meters above sea level, 18.38 kilometers away from Shawan city. Fandian township has a humid monsoon climate in the middle subtropical zone, and it is a fog area in autumn and winter with low mountains and moderate mountains. The annual sunshine duration is about 1010 hours, and the sunshine percentage is 20% - 30%. The maximum temperature is 35 ℃, the minimum temperature is - 3.5 ℃, the frost free days are 300-315 days, and the annual rainfall is 1500-1700mm. Fandian Township Party committee and government take Coptis chinensis, Atractylodes macrocephala, bamboo, dried fruit and tea as pillar industries, and have developed a path of agricultural industrialization with Fandian characteristics. Now it has a provincial Coptis chinensis planting demonstration base, which was accepted by the national Coptis chinensis planting demonstration base in 2007. The planting area of Rhizoma Coptidis, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae and other Chinese herbal medicines in the township has reached 10000 mu, and the development of forest and bamboo has begun to take shape. At present, the area of forest and bamboo is 55000 mu, and the timber stock is 150000 cubic meters. The demonstration base of traditional Chinese medicine will be built in 2094 mu, with an area of 8550 mu, including 1988 mu of Huanglian and 3400 mu of Atractylodes macrocephala. At the same time, new varieties of Gastrodia elata will be introduced, and 320 nests will be planted in Daiwan village. This year, the sales revenue of traditional Chinese medicine will reach 4.97 million yuan. In 2003, 2000 mu of cropland was converted to forest, 2467.6 mu of barren hills were planted, the forest coverage rate reached 70%, and the timber volume reached 180000 cubic meters. We will vigorously develop animal husbandry with pigs, cattle and sheep as the main products. We will introduce excellent breeds of "Sanyuan" hybrid pigs and conduct pilot breeding in Xianfeng and Wuqi villages. In 2003, 5985 pigs, 560 cattle, 1125 sheep and 34500 small poultry were sold. Vigorously develop pig processing industry, big hit "Fandian old Bacon" brand, annual production of 60 tons of bacon.
