Historical evolution

Yanhe township was founded in October 1951, then known as Yanjing Township, along wufangli, under the jurisdiction of four villages. After the adjustment of administrative division in 1955, it belongs to Guohua district. In 1958, it was changed into Yanjing commune, which has jurisdiction over six district teams and belongs to Guohua district. It was renamed Yanhe commune in 1980.
