Located at the intersection of Yalong River and Anning River, Deshi town is opposite to Tongzilin town of Yanbian County across the river in the East, faces Jinhe township of Yanbian County in the south, adjoins Baipo Township in the west, and borders Malong Township and Salan town in the north. The town government is 51 kilometers away from Miyi County and 33 kilometers away from Panzhihua City. It has convenient transportation and connects with 214 provincial road and Chengdu Kunming railway. The territory is crisscrossed by canyons and belongs to Zhongshan Mountain area with the lowest altitude of 980m. After the adjustment of administrative division, Deshi town has 10 administrative villages and 45 cooperatives with a total population of 6903 (2017). There are 6860 mu of cultivated land (including 2005 mu of paddy field and 4855 mu of mountainous area). The territory is rich in mineral resources, vanadium titanium magnetite, granite ore, coal reserves are huge. The famous Ertan Hydropower Station is located in the area with abundant hydropower resources.

Sichuan Chuantou dianye Co., Ltd., the largest yellow phosphorus producer in China, has an annual output of 80000 tons of yellow phosphorus and 50000 tons of sodium tripolyphosphate. In addition, enterprises such as Yangtze River Yashui Bureau, xiaodeshi log yard, Xinxin hydropower development company, Yuanbaoshan Mining Co., Ltd., Miyi Hecheng quarry, Deshi town Jiandong phosphorus products processing plant, Changxing stone factory, and Pulin Bureau 412 forest farm have settled down in the town. In 2004, Panzhihua Yuanbaoshan Mining Co., Ltd. was introduced to build a plant in heigutian village, Deshi Town, with an annual output of 220000 tons of iron concentrate and 30000 yuan of titanium concentrate, with a total investment of 40 million yuan. It is expected that the plant can be put into trial production in late October.

In 2004, the gross domestic product of Deshi town is expected to reach 212 million yuan, including 5.6 million yuan of added value of the primary industry, 201.8 million yuan of added value of the secondary industry and 4.6 million yuan of added value of the tertiary industry. The total output value of industry and agriculture is 601.7 million yuan, including 593 million yuan of industrial output value and 8.7 million yuan of agricultural output value. It is estimated that the per capita net income will increase by 200 yuan to 2526 yuan at the end of the year.

New rural construction

The thinking of new rural construction in Deshi town is as follows

1. Taking village and town planning as the leading role, we should improve rural living conditions, speed up the construction of rural water conservancy, rural energy, village roads and other infrastructure, improve the production and living conditions of farmers, and build new villages and towns.
