During the Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty, pianbai township was Dongyi township; in July 2001, Baixi township was merged into pianbai township. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Baixiang was 18120. As of June 2020, pianbai village has jurisdiction over seven administrative villages, and the Township People's government is stationed in pianbai village.

History of construction
During the reign of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty, Youyang Prefecture set up a four-way township system, with Dongyi township as its main township.

In February 1951, pianbai township was divided into three townships: Chetian, Baixi and pianbai.
In July 1953, it was set up in lengshuixiang by pianbai.
In May 1956, Lengshui town was merged into pianbai.
In July 2001, Baixi township was merged into pianbai township.
