Sanyi Township, subordinate to Chongqing Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, is located in the northeast of Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, adjacent to Zhongyi Township in the East, Qiaotou town in the southwest and Yuelai town in the north. It is 38 kilometers away from Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County Government, with a total area of 28.86 square kilometers.
In 1381, Sanyi township was under the jurisdiction of nanbinli. In December 1983, Sanyi commune was changed into Sanyi township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of San Yi township was 5753. As of June 2020, Sanyi rural has four administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the Township People's government is located in Qingshu group of Dabao village.
