Yuanyi Town, subordinate to Liangping District of Chongqing, is located in the western regional center of Liangping district. It is adjacent to Zhushan Town in the East, Qixing Town in the south, Bishan town in the west, Hucheng town and Longsheng Township in the north. It is 53 kilometers away from the residence of Liangping District People's government, with a total area of 42.6 square meters.
In the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936), Yuanyi town was set up under the second district; in September 1992, it was changed from Yuanyi township to Yuanyi town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Yuyi town was 24725. As of June 2020, Yuanyi town has 1 community and 10 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and its people's government is located at No. 48 Dazhong street.

History of construction
Yuanyi town got its name because there was a post station in Jiaqing (February 9, 1796 - September 2, 1820).
In 1936, Yuanyi town was set up under the second district; in 1947, Yuanyi township was set up.
In December 1949, it was subordinate to Yuanyi district.
In September 1958, Yuanyi commune was rebuilt.
In September 1966, it was renamed Zhanqi commune.
In September 1985, Zhanqi commune was changed into Yuanyi township.
In September 1992, it was changed from Yuanyi township to Yuanyi town.
