History and culture
The origin of the name of Cuozhen
It is said that during the spring and Autumn period, when Confucius was traveling around the country, he happened to meet Xiang liguao and other children on the way to build a city. They blocked the way of the car, and Kong ordered to tear down the city to give way to the car. Xiang liguao said with a strong sense: "only the car gives way to the city, where can the city give way to the car!" Confucius was surprised and asked: "is it difficult for children?" because he asked, "you know what fire is smokeless, what mountain is without stone, what water is without fish, what tree is without branch?" children replied casually: "fireflies are smokeless, earth mountain is without stone, well water is without fish, and withered tree is without branch. "The child asked Confucius," why can geese and ducks swim and why can geese sing? "Confucius replied," geese and ducks can float because of their feet, and geese can sing because of their long necks. "The child said:" fish and shrimp can swim, because the foot is square; toad can sing, because the head is long? "Confucius was speechless. "How many stars are there in the sky? How many people are there in the earth?" Confucius said, "why do you talk about heaven and earth when you come here. "How many eyebrows do you have in front of you?" Confucius sighed and said, "future generations are formidable. How can you know that the future is not as good as the present! "Seeing Confucius' admiration, Xiang Liao demolished the city and gave up the car. To commemorate this event, later generations took cuocheng as their name. Later, the population gradually increased, and the town was built here, which was called CuO town. Because of the close pronunciation and meaning of the city and town, the word "city" was omitted and called CuO town.
The origin of "Maqiao"
It is said that Cuozhen is a place of Phoenix. In the early Ming Dynasty, Ma Niang Niang had to personally verify it and send someone to explore the way first. At that time, the traffic was inconvenient and she had to cross the river by ferry. For the sake of safety, local officials sent craftsmen to build a stone arch bridge overnight, and built a water Pavilion on the river for her to rest and observe. This bridge is specially built for Ma Niang Niang, so it is called "Ma Qiao".
The legend of "solitary well"
There is a well in the old street of CuO Town, which is located in the center of the street and is called "Gujing". It is said that in the early years of Ming Dynasty, Cuozhen was prosperous. One day, Liu Bowen passed by and said that this star is the land of Phoenix, and there will be Phoenix taking off in the future. This spread to Ma Niang Niang's ears. She said that two phoenixes could not coexist in one day, so she came to see the terrain in person. As soon as she saw the terrain, it looked like a Phoenix. She sent someone to drill a well in the throat of the Phoenix. She said that it was to insert a silver needle into the neck of the Phoenix and build an earth kiln by the river to burn one of its wings
