History of construction

In Ming Dynasty, Mingyu town belonged to Liujin town.

In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the top four of Fuli in Nanchuan.

In 1945, Mingyu town was set up, belonging to the second district. In May 1946, it belonged to the third district. In 1947, it belonged to the fourth district (now Shuijiang).

After November 1949, it still belongs to the fourth district (now Shuijiang).

In 1950, Mingyu was changed to Mingyu Township, belonging to the eighth district.

Fengyan was incorporated into Mingyu Township in 1957, and Mingyu commune was established in December of the same year.

In 1961, Mingyu commune established Fengyan commune.

In December 1981, Mingyu commune was changed into Mingyu township.
