Laitan Town, belonging to Hechuan District of Chongqing, is located on the West Bank of Qujiang River in the northeast of Hechuan district. It is adjacent to shuanghuai town in the East, Xiaomian town in the southeast, Guandu town in the south, Qiantang town and Yunmen street in the West and Longshi town in the north. It is 32 kilometers away from the people's Government of Hechuan District, with a total area of 64.85 square kilometers.
In the third year of Qiande (965) of the Northern Song Dynasty, Laitan town was built in the territory of Laitan Town, belonging to Shizhao County of Hezhou. In December 1993, Laitan town was set up by withdrawing Laitan township. By the end of 2018, the population of lato town registered residence was 40588. As of June 2020, Laitan town has 1 community and 11 administrative villages, and the people's Government of Laitan town is located at No. 8, Lailong road.

History of construction
In the third year of Qiande in the Northern Song Dynasty (965), laitanchang was built, belonging to Shizhao County of Hezhou.
In the reign of Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to mingyueli of Hezhou; in the 32nd year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1906), it belonged to longlai town.
In 1926, Laitan town was established as the Fourth District Office. In 1941, Laitan town was changed into Laitan township.
In December 1949, it belonged to the ninth district (later changed to Longshi District).
In September 1958, Laitan township was changed into Laitan commune.
In 1968, Laitan commune was renamed upstream commune.
In 1972, the original name of Laitan commune was restored.
In December 1993, Laitan town was set up in Laitan township.
In June 2001, shuanglonghu and Baohua towns were merged into Laitan town.
