Mudong Town, subordinate to Banan District of Chongqing, is located in the northeast of Banan District, adjacent to Shuanghekou town and Fengsheng town in the East, Dongwenquan town and Ersheng town in the south, adjacent to Nan'an District in the West and Yangtze River in the north, 68 km away from the people's Government of Banan District, with a total area of 104.3 square kilometers.
In the late Qing Dynasty, Mudong town was established; in December 1993, Mudong Township and Changping Township joined Mudong town. History of construction
In the late Qing Dynasty, Mudong town was set up.
At the beginning of the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it was named mudongchang, a township level administrative system; in the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), it was called mudongli. In June 1930, Mudong town was restored. In 1935, Mudong town was changed to Mudong joint protection. In 1940, Mudong town was restored. In 1947, Mudong town was renamed Cangbai town because it was the hometown of Yang Cangbai, a pioneer of democratic revolution.
After 1949, Cangbai town was renamed Mudong town.
In November 1952, Shuikou township was built in some of the towns; in December of the same year, Changping Township, Fuxi Township and Yangshan Township were built in some of the towns.
In April 1954, Yangshan township was merged into Mudong town.
In January 1956, Shuikou, Changping and Fuxi townships were merged into jianmudong township; in November of the same year, Shuikou township was restored.
In September 1958, Mudong Town, Mudong Township and Shuikou Township merged to build Mudong commune.
In May 1959, Mudong town was restored, Mudong commune was removed, and Mudong, Shuikou and Changping management areas were set up.
In December 1960, the Mudong management area was changed to Mudong commune.
In 1966, Mudong town was renamed upstream town.
In 1967, upstream town was renamed Mudong town.
In 1982, Mudong commune was removed and changed into Mudong township.
In December 1993, Mudong Township and Changping Township joined Mudong town.

By the end of 2011, Mudong town had jurisdiction over Mudong 1, Mudong 2 and Mudong 3 communities, 14 administrative villages including Qiang yuan, Haiyan, yangjiadong, Bao'an, Miaoya, Taohuadao, Zhongba, tudinao, Songzi, Shuikou temple, Tuqiao, qianjiawan, Dongqing and Jingxing, 24 resident groups and 107 villager groups.
As of June 2020, Mudong town has 3 communities and 14 administrative villages: community 1, community 2, community 3, Zhongba village, Taohuadao village, Songzi village, yangjiadong village, Haiyan village, Qiangyuan village, Baoan village, tudinao village, shuikousi village, Tuqiao village, Jingxin village, Miaoya village, qianjiawan village and Dongqing village.
