Historical evolution
In the seventh volume of the new book of Tang geography and the fifth volume of Guangxi Tongzhi County evolution, Sien county was set up in the 12th year of Tang Zhenguan (638). in the Five Dynasties and ten states, it belonged to Qingyuan Prefecture. The counties under the former Huanzhou prefecture were merged into si'en County, and its jurisdiction was generally in the middle and lower reaches of the great Huanjiang River and its west. In the early Song Dynasty, Zhenning Prefecture was set up in the western part of Huanzhou, and Lidan county was set up under it. In 1075, Huanzhou and Zhenning Zhou were abolished and merged into si'en county. This was the beginning of the rise of si'en county. It was subordinate to Qingyuan Prefecture and transferred to Daixi Village (now Bawei village, Hezuo village, Luoyang Town). In the sixth year of Yuanfeng (1083), Emperor Shenzong of Song Dynasty moved the county government back to the hometown of huanjiangzhou. At the beginning of Daguan period (1107), Xizhou was established, and si'en county was upgraded to Xizhou. In the fourth year of Daguan period, Xizhou was abandoned and si'en county was restored. after Song Dynasty's southward migration, si'en county had jurisdiction over the original and present Hechi county's eastern region. From the Yuan Dynasty to the middle of the Yuan Dynasty (around 1280), Anhua Prefecture was abolished, and its jurisdiction was subordinate to si'en county. At that time, si'en county was subordinate to the Department of military and civilian Pacification in danxidong, Qingyuan County. In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368), libodong in Nandan Prefecture was divided into si'en county. During the Hongwu Period (1368-1398), Li Liang, the county magistrate, built the county seat in Qingtan Village (now Qingtan village, Sien Town, remains of the former site). In September of 1384, the northern part of si'en county was cut off and Libo County was established. In the 22nd year of Yongle (1424), the county government was moved to Qingtan village. In November 1428, Xuande moved southward to baishanzhai (now baishantun, Xinpo village, Dacai township). In 1472, Xianzong moved back to oujiashan from baishanzhai. In Hongzhi years, si'en county was subordinate to Chizhou of Qingyuan Fuhe River. In the ninth year of Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty (1652), in order to avoid the war, the county government moved to Qingtan village again, and moved back to oujiashan in the 15th year (1658). In 1664, the county magistrate Weng Shiyong rebuilt the stone city and built the qiaolou in view of the collapse of the city gates. Twenty five years (1686), magistrate Bao Fuxiang repair again, the city wall and the East, West, South, North four gatehouses then consolidate. By the middle of the Qing Dynasty, the urban area was expanded and the streets extended westward. The west gate was moved to the west end of Xiwei Street (to the south of the courtyard of the Agricultural Bank of China). During the period of the Republic of China, the South Gate building and the west gate building no longer existed, but the East Gate building and the North Gate building were as large as the old buildings. After liberation, the North Gate building was demolished during the land reform, and the East Gate building was demolished during the great leap forward. The former site of Ximen building is still a thoroughfare. In August 1951, the two counties of si'en and Yibei merged into Huanjiang County, which governed si'en town.
