Limu town

Limu Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the north of Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County, adjacent to Longhu Township and Guanyin Township in the East, Dajing Yao Township in Lingchuan County in the west, Jiahui town in the South and Dongjing Yao Township in Guanyang County in the north, with an administrative area of 27780 hectares. In 1934, Limu township was established, belonging to the fourth district. In July 1984, Limu town was rebuilt. In October 1989, the two village offices of Longling and Yuanyuan were assigned to the newly established Longhu township. By the end of 2017, the total number of registered residence in chestnut town was 15454, with a total population of 50005. Among them, 36337 were Yao people, accounting for 81% of the total population; mainly lived in 9 ethnic groups, such as Yao, Han, Zhuang, Miao and so on. As of the end of 2019, 2 communities and 17 administrative villages were under control.

History of construction

In 1934, Limu township was established, belonging to the fourth district.

In October 1950, it was renamed Limu town.

In January 1958, it was renamed Limu township; on September 1 of the same year, it merged with Dazhi and Liuling township to form Limu commune.

In April 1959, Quanhui commune was merged into Limu commune.

In the second half of 1962, it was renamed Limu district.

In January 1969, it was renamed Limu commune.

In July 1984, Limu town was set up with 19 villagers' committees and 1 neighborhood committee.

In 1987, the village committee was transformed into a village office.

In October 1989, two village offices in Longling and Yuanyuan were assigned to the newly established Longhu township; at the end of the same year, Limu town set up one neighborhood committee, 17 village offices and 93 village committees.

In December 1995, the village office was replaced by the village committee, and the original village committee was no longer retained.

By the end of 2019, Limu town has 2 communities and 17 administrative villages, 164 natural villages and 390 villager groups. The government is located at 82 Zhennan Road, Limu town.
