Qiankeng Town, belonging to Jiexi County, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, is located in the south of the county, bordering Jinhe town in the East, Daxi town and Huizhai town in the north, and Shipai town, Dachi farm and Lihu town in Puning City in the south. It is 27 kilometers away from the county, covering an area of 46.68 square kilometers. As of 2018, the town of Qian Tong had 46255 registered residence population. As of October 2019, Qiankeng town has jurisdiction over one community and 13 administrative villages, and the town government is located in Laoxu community.

Qiankeng was called qianjiazhai in ancient times. During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to the third district of Jieyang county (Mianhu District). After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belongs to the Fifth District of Jieyang county. In 1957, Qiankeng township was established. In July 1967, Jiexi County was established as Jiexi County. At the same time, Daxi people's commune was separated. In 1983, it was renamed district. In 1986, the town was changed.

In 2019, Qiankeng town completed the national land tax revenue of 3.1649 million yuan. The total agricultural output value of the town was 343 million yuan, accounting for 108.23% of the annual task. History and culture

The origin of place names

In Song Dynasty, qianjiazhai was a place where many surnames lived together. In the early Yuan Dynasty, Nanshan Gong, surnamed Lin, moved from Putian, Fujian Province to settle here. Later, other surnames either moved away or disappeared. The surname Lin flourished, so he replaced Qian family and changed Qian family village into Qian Keng Village, which is now Qian Keng town.

Qiankeng wood carvings have the themes of characters, landscapes, flowers, fish and insects, birds, animals, historical stories, myths and legends, local folk customs and so on.

In 2015, pulongwei village of Qiankeng town was rated as "Guangdong intangible cultural heritage productive protection demonstration base" by Guangdong Province.
